Rooted in truth. Honest about life. Learning what it means to care for people well.
About Rooted & Raw
Rooted & Raw is a space for reflections from my life in biblical care, shaped through counseling, teaching, and the ongoing work of learning how to walk with people faithfully.
I write from the intersection of counseling, teaching , and the slow work of paying attention to what Scripture forms in real life.
What I share here is not theory apart from practice, but theology tested in conversation, real stories, and the pressures people carry in ordinary life.
I am interested in what it looks like to care for a person over time. In faith, relationships, habits, and the quiet patterns that shape us more than we notice. Growth is often slower and more ordinary than we expect.
Most of my counseling work happens through Rooted & Raw, where I walk with women seeking Christ-centered care. Alongside that, I teach in the Master of Arts in Christian Counseling program at Southern California Seminary.
This Substack sits alongside both of those spaces, with room to think out loud.
It is where I return to what I am seeing in counseling, slow down patterns that repeat in real lives, and try to give language to what Scripture is forming in everyday life. Some writing will be brief reflections. Some will grow into longer essays over time.
I send one article by email each month, usually on the first, with occasional shorter notes in between.
If you are here, I hope this becomes a steady place to slow down, notice what is forming in you, and grow in what is true.
I am glad you are here.
